In response to increasing demands from our clients, Les Fontaines will calculate and help you compensate the carbon footprint of your event.
Using our in-house computer application, we measure the overall carbon footprint of your event including the running of the site while you are here and your journeys to and from Les Fontaines.
Calculate your carbon footprint
We offer a Carbon Footprint package comprising 2 types of analyses of your greenhouse gas emissions:
- Conducted upstream of your event, the first analysis predicts your compensation and if appropriate, suggests ways to minimize it by managing transport differently, organizing car-sharing or coach transfers etc.
- Carried out after your event, the second study measures precisely the actual greenhouse gas emissions from the final list of participants.
How is your carbon footprint compensated?
It is done by financing one or more projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of your event.
These projects are of several types: energy efficiency, renewable energy etc., and are usually set up in the southern hemisphere so as to yield not only direct benefits to the climate, but also local development of economic and social schemes for the population.
Examples of compensation:
- In India, in the district of Hassan – building of biogas reservoirs to provide farmers with clean fuels.
- In Bolivia and Peru – use of solar ovens to reduce reliance on non-renewable fuels.
