Lighting for your seminars and events
When preparing a professional event, the organizer carefully reviews all the details that will make it a success. From staging and decoration to music and catering, nothing is left to chance. However, one element is often underestimated, despite its importance: lighting.
A few clarifications are in order:
The thousand and one virtues of light
Natural light is essential to our well-being: it regulates our circadian cycles and influences the quality of our sleep, our mood and our ability to concentrate. That's why event organizers should always ask themselves the following questions: What will they see? For how long?
It's important to know that choosing a venue with meeting rooms exposed to daylight, overlooking an unobstructed view with a natural element or harmonious architectural features, will always favor participants' concentration and comfort.
What about windowless spaces and lighting after dark? You'll need to create a controlled, event lighting scheme that highlights these spaces and creates an atmosphere in keeping with the desired ambience.
Lighting, atmosphere
Natural? Screened? Direct or indirect? Each type of light contributes to creating a specific atmosphere. Depending on your needs, lighting can, for example, create an atmosphere conducive to discussion, mark out an itinerary, or encourage dancing.
Playing with light and shadow will also dramatize certain moments, focusing attention on certain elements and unconsciously influencing behavior.
Above all, it's important to bear in mind that, in addition to highlighting products, messages or people, light is also a significant vector of emotion. Emotionally neutral memories are less likely to stick in the memory, so it's clear how important lighting is in creating lasting collective memories.
Ultra-customization to meet event objectives
Event lighting is a subtle art. Lighting a product or signage is not the same as lighting a round table or a speech on stage. In the former case, the aim is to sublimate/enhance an object; in the latter, the aim is to draw attention to the speakers.
To ensure that your event's lighting scheme is fully in tune with the themes to be addressed, we recommend involving a technical director from the outset of the project. Depending on the objectives of the seminar and the different times on the agenda, he or she can suggest a lighting scheme tailored to the architecture of the venue, the time of day, and the desired effects.
Often overlooked, lighting is a discreet but essential factor in the success of your events. Not to be overlooked under any circumstances!
